The Bleeding Disorders Foundation of North Carolina (BDFNC) invites you and your family to a community dinner program to educate you and help build community. Join us for an evening of conversation and a presentation about health insurance and how to navigate the system. This is a great opportunity to learn something new and build community with other families.
Shelby Smoak will present “It’s Your Move: Making Health Insurance Work for You.” When it comes to health insurance, it’s all about knowing how to play your cards right to get the most out of your plan. In this program, participants will explore different types of health insurance plans, learn how to determine coverage for bleeding disorder care and treatments, and get tips and strategies on how to make their insurance plans work for them. Everyone will leave with game-changing insurance knowledge and the confidence to successfully navigate their plans.
Shelby Smoak is a lifelong advocate, drawing from his lived experience and academic approach. Shelby helps people advocate for themselves and understands hemophilia on a deeper level. Growing up, Shelby gravitated towards the arts. He’s a former literature professor, memoir author, and musician. Shelby wakes up excited to talk with team members and meet new friends in the community and see what stories unfold.
You will have time to connect with other community members and learn important skills that will improve your experiences living with a bleeding disorder. This program is FREE to attend and open to those affected by any bleeding disorder.
