Arlette Whitaker, RN
Arlette is from Ayden, NC now living in Greenville, NC, and is married with two adult children. She works as a Clinical Nurse Specialist at ECU in the Family Autism and Developmental Behavior department. Arlette has been a nurse for 12 years and has worked as a nurse aide since her junior year in high school. Prior to her position at ECU Family Autism center, she worked as a Hemophilia Clinical Nurse Specialist at ECU HTC for around six years. It was there that she developed a passion for bleeding disorders. She served both pediatric and adult patients in the ECU HTC clinic. She also served as a member of the BDFNC Board of directors from 2016-18. She has also volunteered for various events and was a member of the North Carolina Advisory Board for Bleeding Disorders. Her exciting volunteer moments are at the Annual Teen Retreat. Being able to hear the teens’ perceptions of bleeding disorders, to see the bonding with other bleeding disorder teens, see and hear the encouragement to one another of being able to take control of their bleeding disorders and to watch them enjoy a few days of just being a “teen family” is magical! In her spare time, Arlette loves traveling, reading, and family time.
